Active Ingredient
Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Methylsulfonylmethane, Ascorbic Acid, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Gluconate, Copper Gluconate.
Description
Bonhans® is manufactured by SavaVet. The active substances of these tablets are Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Methylsulfonylmethane, Ascorbic Acid, Zinc Oxide, Manganese Gluconate, and Copper Gluconate. The combination of these ingredients beneficially affects mobility, joints, and bones in dogs of any breed and size.
Joint disorders are caused by the degeneration of cartilage – an elastic tissue that covers and protects ends of long bones, joints, and other parts of the body. When an organism cannot produce enough cartilage, degenerative joint disorders (like arthritis) start develop.
Indications:
Bonhans® is indicated for prophylaxis or symptomatic relief of:
- rheumatoid arthritis;
- osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease);
- osteochondrosis;
- canine dysplasia (hip or elbow);
- aseptic necrosis of the femoral head (also called Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease);
- joint trauma (cranial cruciate ligament tear, dislocation and fracture of the ankle, dislocation of the elbow or hip, joint fractures, palmar carpal ligament breakdown).
Although Bonhans® beneficially affects dogs suffering from the named conditions, the sole consumption of these tablets does not cure any of them.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Glucosamine Hydrochloride is an amino sugar that promotes the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans, a major component of joint cartilage. With the increased formation of these elements, the body becomes able to rebuild broken cartilage tissue needed to support and protect bones and joints.
Chondroitin Sulfate is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and a very important component of cartilage tissue. It strengthens the cartilage and enhances its resistance to compression.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a chemical that acts as a painkiller and anti-inflammatory. It also beneficially affects body tissues, like cartilage and mucous membrane.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is an antioxidant that protects dog’s body from free radicals – harmful atoms involved in cellular damage, that later results in such conditions as premature aging, cancer, degenerative joint disorders, indigestion, etc.
Zinc Oxide is a trace mineral essential for metabolic processes, brain function, and immune system. It also helps the body to maintain healthy hormonal balance.
Manganese Gluconate is a valuable mineral that dog’s body needs for protein metabolism, healthy reproductive function, and formation of enzymes (biological catalysts responsible for the chemical reactions throughout the organism). It is involved in synthesis of cholesterol, carbohydrates, and proteins.
Copper Gluconate is a mineral involved in the production of red blood cells. This mineral is also necessary for healthy-looking coat and eyes, as Copper supports fur and iris pigmentation.
